PURPOSE

The Da Vinci Institute of Technology Management provides a three-year degree programme in Business Management.

The focus is on the alignment of the requisite Supply Chain Management skills required by the client. The full degree programme provides for 360 credits at NQF Level 7.

The purpose of this qualification is to recognise those who have the required competence to serve in management development positions in organisations (public and private, including self-owned businesses) and society by enabling them to obtain a nationally registered and recognised qualification.

THE CURRICULUM

This unique three-year Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management with electives in Integrated Supply Chain Management offers students both commercial and professional aspects.

The programme is divided into two components:

  1. The commercial aspect, which introduces the student to the soft skills and other related competencies such as business management, human resources management, marketing management, management of technology, management of innovation and systems thinking aspects.
  2. The professional aspect, which introduces the student to procurement and supply chain hard skills and other competencies such as negotiating and contracting in the procurement environment, analysing the business needs, sourcing in procurement, managing risks in the supply chain and how to make supply chains competitive.

This programme affords students with a unique opportunity to complete two qualifications simultaneously; the B.Com in Supply Chain Management, conferred by the Da Vinci Institute, and part completion of the CIPS Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply, an international qualification.

THE OBJECTIVES

At the degree level, people who achieve this qualification will be able to:

  • Define and apply a variety of management development theories within a systems thinking framework.
  • Describe the knowledge and skills required to inform sustainable management and organisational development practices.
  • Communicate ideas and concepts and practically apply theories related to management development.
  • Apply technology, innovation, people and systems thinking concepts to transform individuals, organisations and/or communities.
